Here is a selection of animals needing homes. As we are so busy, we are not always able to update the website as often as we like. Please DO contact us if you would like to know if we have any recent additions or if you have any enquiries regarding the animals below.

The adoption fee is female dogs is ranges from R330 to R460 depending on size and R310 for male dogs. The adoption fee for female cat is R310 and R240 for male cats. This includes all vaccinations, deworming, spaying and neutering.

PUPPIES

At the moment we seem to have a steady stream of gorgeous puppies all needing great homes. Please give us a call on 021 855 1824 to find out which of these little'uns are still available.

Pretty Petal (3-4 months

Petal is is the only survivor of her litter because the rest died of malnutrition as her mom couldn't feed them enough. She is not just a pretty face, she's a real little toughie!

Dory - 9wks

Dory is the sweetest most loveable little thing ever. She ejoys a good rough and tumble with the other kittens and always rushes to the front of the cage so that nobody overlooks her!

Hunky (9 wks)

Hunky is a very cool cat, he's pretty laid back and is happy for everyone to stand around admiring him, but deep down he is desperate to go home with you!

Tank (male, 8 weeks)

Tank is also the only survivor of his litter, sadly a large male dog killed the rest. What he lacks in beauty, he totally makes up for in character. He's an awesome pup!

Timothy (6 months)

Timothy is a very well behaved boy. Playful as well as sweet and peaceful.

Thelma & Louise

These splendid sisters need a home(s) asap. They were rescued from a large litter when they were 6 weeks old and are currently being fostered. Theywould love to join a new home while they are still young enough to charm you with their "puppyness"!

Please note that these girls are about 6 months now and have grown quite a bit - there will be a more up to date picture soon, but for reference, Timothy (above) is their brother and is the same age.

Boy pups!

These cheeky chappys are so cute and cuddly. The are very affectionate and playful. Their mom was about a spaniel size so they should be nice medium sized boys when they grow up. These little guys were born in August.

Lovely Lara

Lara is one of original shoebox pups that were abandoned when they were only a day old. At 9 months old, she is grown into a beautiful dog!

Unfortunately she was recently returned to us because her previous owners did not like the fact that she wet herself when they hit her... needless to say this poor girl has developed a few issues as a way of coping.

What she really needs is a LOVING and PATIENT owner and family who will help her develop her confidence again so that she can be free of issues.

3 Cheers for REX!

Rex is one of our more recent additions to our clan of fluffy friends. Rex was removed from the township with a very badly broken leg. The damage was so bad that his front right leg had to be removed - you would think it would slow this guy down, but no way! :) He's getting around fantastically well, he should be a great inspiration us humans that whinge and whine at the first sign of a cold!

Rex also has another party trick - he is one the few dogs who actually grin from ear to ear when he is happy!

Graham the Greyhoud

This handsome fella is a purebred Greyhound that was rescued from a "backstreet" breeder. He is now in great shape and super healthy.

Everyone that meets Graham adores him, he is one of the friendliest dogs ever and so docile. He gets on well with other dogs, cats and people.

Toe-ni

Toe-ni is our miracle pup. She had a terrible accident involving her foot and a taxi when she was just 6 weeks old. She was due to be put to sleep, but with lots od support from the vet, she was saved and her foot was operated on.

She has stunned us all with her recovery and has always had plenty of wags in her tail and time for cuddles. Her back foot has just about covered over now and she can finally go to a new and wonderful home.

Nellie

You can just see what Nellie is thinking: "Oh my word, this is just soooo embarassing!"

Nellie is Ridgador (Ridgeback x labrador) and has a beautiful ridge down her back. She is now about 4 or 5 months old.

Beautiful Maxie

Maxie was adopted to a wonderful family around June this year, but after months of trying to settle in she just isn't able see eye to eye with one of her new siblings. She's is definately a "big dog" kind of girl!!

She walks beautifully on the lead and enjoys been brushed gently. She likes to roll over and have her tummy stroked and is used to sleeping outside in a dog bed.

She get on well with other large dogs, but is not too keen on little dogs and cats!

She is about 4 years old now.

Matatu (means 3)

Matatu (female) was found tied up with wire and unfortunately had to have a leg amputated.

She only has 3 legs - not that you'd ever guess it because she runs and jumps like any other dog!

Blackie

This young lady is 1 of 4 pups left over from 3 litters born in October last year.

She is slightly more timid than her siblings, but very loving and friendly with anyone that take the time to get to know her. She definately deserves a little of your time!

Bat Girl! :)

Who could resist those puppy dog eyes?! This young lady is very special and is looking for a bit of extra love and attention. She can be a bit timid, but need somebody who can take the time to show her that she's worth it.

Matshaya

Female cross breed - approximately 3 or 4 years old.

Daisy

Cinders

Cinders, female approximately 3 years old was mom to a litter of pups that we recently found homes for. Now that her babies have been sorted out she also needs a home.

Albie is a happy go luckly male pup, he's about 2 year old, full of action and energy!

Sweetie Pie

This gentle girl knows just how to pose for the camera! She might not make it into the magazines, but with any luck she make it into your hearts a hopefully a comfy spot in you home too! Born October 2010.

Tiny

Poor Tiny is a very confused doggy at the moment. Tiny and her brother were quite happy until their mom had to move to a retirement home and sadly dogs are not welcome. This photo was taken on the day she arrived at TAR and she was very confused and scared by suddenly being surrounded by so many other dogs and people that she didn't know. She's a lovely little dog and only 5 years old. We would love for her to be adopted soon so that she can settle down into a lovely calm life again.

Poppit

Poppit is the sweetest little thing ever! She's about two years old and really friendly. She always looks so happy whenever anybody talks to her or cuddles her. She is really lovely girl!

Penny was born on November 2009. She is a friendly happy go lucky girl, just a real star!

Boy Dog

Boy Dog, you guessed it, is male. He is the brother to the 3 female pups we have at the moment. Born October 2010.

As you can see from his photo, he is quite a handsome speciman and a pretty chilled out guy.

Gorgeous Ruby

Ruby is still quite young about 4 or 5 months old. She was rescued from a busy road a few weeks ago.

She has a stunning personality and is very friendly and eager to please. She looks like she will be a medium sized dog when she grows up. She was a bit skinny when she was rescued, but is starting to pick up wait nicely.

Little Seymour needs you

Seymour was rescued from a farm after being bitten on the face by a large dog. He sustained severe facial injuries & had to have one eye removed.

Big Boy Baroque (Boerboel)

Baroque was recently rescued from a local farm where the farm workers were not able to take care of him properly and is incredibly malnourished and skinny. We are desperate to find a new home for him!

He does lack a few basic manners and will need a bit of training, but he is young and eager to please so it shouldn't be a problem. He has been known to plonk himself on people's laps for a cuddle! Baroque is about 1-2 years old and neutered.  When he is at his healthy weight he will probably be about 60Kgs.

Lesley (9 Weeks Old)

Meet Lesley... if you are able to resist this gorgeous puppy, then you must have a heart of stone! She is an absolute sweetie pie, complete with puppy breath and chubby little puppy tummy :)

She was rescued with her brother and he was lucky enough to get a home last week. She misses him quite a bit, but she is glad to have a chance to finish her food without him scoffing the lot!

We are keen to find her a home asap as it can be quite scary to be the littlest pup on the block!

Bertha - Let down for the 3rd time! :(

This poor innocent pup has been promised a home 3 times, and every time prospective owners change their minds. This poor little pup has never even made it out of the doors into a new home, so I can vouch for - she is a very good little pup and all she wants is love.

Bertha, formally known as big Bertha because she was the biggest in the litter, is 10 weeks old now. She is known for her soulful eyes :)

She was one of 6 pups that were found dumped in a box when they were just a day old. 3 of her sibling didn't make it despite our best efforts and love.

Diesel (2 Years Old)

This handsome fella is Diesel. He is the brother of Lovebug who we helped find a home for last year. Just like Lovebug, he is also very friendly and affectionate.

He is not a township boy, but does need a home where he'll get lots of love and attention.

Diesel is 2 years old and needs a home before the end of July.

TESSA LOST HER DAD

Our dear friend and past committee member, Ian Rutter, passed away on the 13th of June. He had very little time to organise anything, but one of his priorities was making sure that his beloved dogs would be taken care of. We promised him we would do that for him and find good homes for his girls. 

So far we have found a home for one of his girls, who is settling in very well, but the remaining dog, Tessa, still needs a home. She is a lovely gentle, natured labby-cross. She is 10 years old now, but fit and healthy and currently very confused and missing her dad. She is not an outdoor dog, she likes her creature comforts and would be a lovely companion for just about anyone.

Tiger

Tiger has been having a rough time lately - her previous owner gave her to a domestic worker who didn't take very good care of her. She was found in a very sorry state: painfully thin and she had lost a lot of her hair due to malnourishment.

Since she was found, she has started picking up weight and is showing signs of new hair growth... now all she needs is somebody to love her and take care of her like she deserves!

Tiger is a female and approximately 3 years old.

Smiley

Smiley is a gorgeous, more mature lad... he's 8 years old now and in great shape.

He's puppy days are over and he is keen to settle down in a lovely home with great owner.

He has been neutered.

Rattex!

This very brave boy is our star of the month: Gorgeous, friendly and ever so cute. Rattex was born in the township in January 2011 and lived in kennel next to a shack. As a really tiny pup, this boy had big trouble with some rats who gradually nibbled away at his foot over time.

Now he gets around very well, but tries to walk on his stump leg which will eventually lead to more injury and infection. We are trying to raise money to pay for a proper amputation so that this little fella can get around with out injuring himself.

Rattex is also looking for a home, someone a little special, but remember dogs like Rattex don't think there is anything wrong with them, they think that are just the same as all the other doggies! :)

*** UPDATE ***

Rattex had his leg amputation op on monday. He is doing so well! Baygon (his sister) was really sad while he was gone. The reunion was such a wonderful sight!

Baygon is Rattex's sister also born in January 2011. She is just as gorgeous as her brother, but I could resist using this silly photo of her! :)

She has a lovely nature and is very affectionate.

Susie, is the little fluffball of the litter and quite a character! She a very bright and playful girl and she'll definately keep you amused with her crazy antics!

These gorgeous kittens were only 4 weeks old when their mom died. They were born in February 2011 and are about 7 weeks now.

Fair-headed Baby

This little pup is from Nomzamo Township. She has been quite well looked after, but just needs a home in a less poverty stricken area. Her sibling has just recently been adopted and she is waiting for her 2nd chance!

These little ones are too cute for words, now about 10 weeks old, these to have been together since they were born and it would be great to have them adopted together since they have bonded so well.

One is male (Top), one is female (Bottom).

Poor Little Sausage!!

This little chap was sent off to be put to sleep simply becuase nobody wanted him! Thankfully a vet took pity on him and saved. We are now looking after him just a little bit until somebody will give him a chance to show his cheeky character! :)

We have 2 gorgeous pups looking for homes.

There are 1 males and 1 female. These little ones were born in August and all they is a new home!

They are fully vaccinated, de-fleaed and dewormed.

Flora (Albie's Sister)

Flora is almost a year old and was rescued from one of the local farms.

The "Gingers" - 11 week old kittens

We have 4 gorgeous ginger and white kittens. The fluffy and playful and seem very relaxed with kids and people.

They were recently recued from one of the local farms.

We seem to have plenty of kittens at the moment! Plenty contact us if you would like to adopt.. Becuase of all the dogs we are trying to rehome, the kitties have to remain in their cages for most of the time.

These crazy, fluffy, cute little critters should be lazing in the sun and attacking bugs and leaves! Please help us give them the chance!!

Oscar 'not so' Wilde

Hi my name is Oscar, lately my life has changed dramatically. My daddy was killed in a car crash and Mommy had to move.
That was so sad, now I am staying with my Aunty Jane and she is trying to find a home for me.

I am 9 not yet neutered but that is happening in the next day or so, oh boy another change.
I am really calm relaxed . All I want is someone to love!

Precious is a female cross approximately 2 years old. She was found running down the road whe a big chain attached to her.

She is a lovely girl, full of exuberance and will make a wonderful pet. She loves cuddles and is very affectionate.

She has been spayed since we rescued her.

Milo, a playful young male that is hoping to find a family that will feed and love him. That's all he really wants!

Boxta is an amazing young thing. He had to have one of his hind legs removed at an early age following a car accident, but 3 legs doesn't stop this little fella, he gets around at such high speed and with such a agility that you would never guess that he is short of a leg! :)

He is very, very lovable and affectionate!

Verity is a young dog, between 1 and 2 years old. she was rescued from appalling conditions and is now recovering very. Her coat has improved remarkably since being rescued and she should look splendid in no time!
